CRANBOURNE trainer Doug Harrison is eyeing off a trip to Adelaide for It's Crunch Time after his exciting victory in the Buy Property Direct 0-72 Handicap (1200 metres) at Mornington last Wednesday.
Harrison said the impressive manner in which It's Crunch Time dismissed a talented field had convinced him success in a bigger race was not beyond him.
"I was very happy with the win," he said. "He won with a bit in hand and the rest of them were probably getting a kick off the turn to try and get to him."
Harrison picked up the unraced four year old last year after he was prepared by connections from the Hong Kong Jockey Club with a view to racing in China.
In just his sixth start It's Crunch Time ($1.85) defeated Mick Price's Crafty Lady by nearly two lengths with Tycoon Express well back in third.
If all goes to plan, Harrison plans on giving It's Crunch Time a run at Moonee Valley on March 2 before attacking the Adelaide Carnival.
"He will probably run in a 0-78 ratings race at Moonee Valley," he said. "Then later on probably to Adelaide for the carnival."
Harrison said Queen Delight was close to resuming from an injury suffered in the paddock after winning the $100,000 Apache Cat Classic on Cranbourne Cup day in October.
Queen Delight trialled at Cranbourne under lights on February 7 and was impressive, with a Moonee Valley return likely.
Tasmanian trainer Walter McShane took out the $300,000 Mornington Cup with his stable star Norsqui. Norsqui upset a strong field after a stirring run up the straight left the field in his wake.
"He's a very tough horse but I thought he was too far back. He showed more turn of foot today than usual. It's very exciting," McShane said.
The five year old produced a dominant performance to belie his $26 starting price.
