DESPITE a bleak season in the senior grades, Mornington showed it has a bright future in the MPNFL Peninsula League by defeating Seaford by 69 points in the under-18 grand final at Frankston Park on Sunday.
The Bulldogs, who recorded just two losses in the regular season, went into the match as hot favourite and lived up to the tag in the 16.15 (111) to 6.6 (42) victory.
From the outset it was clear the Bulldogs had too many match-winners for the Tigers as they kicked 3.2 to 1.3 in the opening term.
Josh Connell, Luke McEvoy and Jackson Calder with six goals were the Bulldogs' best.
Seaford managed just one goal in the opening half and the Bulldogs took a 55-point break into the long change. But to Seaford's credit it kept fighting and trimmed the margin to 33 points at the final change.
But seven goals in the final term laid to rest any hope of a comeback.
Seaford's best were Harry Czarnecki, Rory Luxton and Brendan Doyle. Damien Lawrence booted two majors.
