SPORT TALK

THERE has been a heap of footy talk around the traps, especially in the past week. There has been plenty of movements in local football circles in recent times. Here are a handful of them:

Frankston Dolphins are looking at localising the club from top to bottom after appointing Simon Goosey as head coach.

Former Langwarrin premiership coach Gavin Artico has been appointed backline coach. Former Seaford premiership coach Paul 'PK' Kennedy has been named forwards coach and former Dolphin and Mornington premiership player Matt Brown is the new midfield coach. Former Pines coach Pat Swayne has been appointed Dolphins Reserves coach.

Langwarrin has appointed former Frankston Dolphin and Frankston Bombers coach Ash Charles as senior coach. Charles will be supported by Glenn Michie, who will take on a much more senior role with the club on field.

Karingal Football Club has appointed Brendan Dunne as senior coach after just one year with the club. Dunne, a Mt Eliza junior, had an outstanding year with the Bulls this season and takes the reins from Justin Peckett.

Somerville has appointed former Frankston Bombers coach Leigh Stewart as senior coach. Stewart leaves Frankston YCW after just one year with the club.

Crib Point has appointed former Sorrento premiership captain Dave 'Plugger' Lawson as its senior coach.

Rosebud has appointed Mark Hustwaite as coach. We believe 'Hussy' is the only coach in MPNFL history to have coached the same club on three different occasions.

He has won premierships in his previous two stints.

Strong rumours only at this stage, but the word is that retired Edithvale coach John Hynes is in talks with Rye about coaching, and the MPNFL's newest life member, Guy Stringer, is in talks with Hastings about its top job.

Frankston YCW has picked up former Edithvale star Lewis Roberts. Edi teammates Rhett Moor and Mark Fitcher have allegedly headed to Chelsea Heights.

Pines has secured former Melbourne tagger Matthew Whelan for the next season, and is in discussions with former Collingwood and Sydney forward Nick Davis. Davis has also been linked with Dromana, and Bonbeach is confident of securing his services. It seems Davis is leaving no stone unturned! The Pythons are yet to find a coach, though.

Finally, Mornington is yet to appoint a coach and players are becoming anxious. One of them, a 2009 team of the year member, is in talks with at least two Nepean Division clubs about his playing future.
