FOUR sides are trying to grab a piece of the MPCA Sub District Shield finals pie and all but one let themselves down miserably on day one of the second last home and away round of the season.
Pearcedale, Seaford Tigers, Skye and Carrum Downs are all on 54 points and all took one another on on Saturday.
Pearcedale is currently in fourth place with a percentage of 1.3, while Tigers (0.93), Skye (0.92) and Carrum Downs (0.60) follow.
With a massive opportunity to end one another's season, the pressure got to the large majority of the teams.
Skye was the only team to hold its nerve and is on the verge of a big win against Carrum Downs. The Cougars batted first and were rolled for just 110. In reply, Skye is cruising at 2-79.
Seaford Tigers batted first against Pearcedale and scrambled to 63. Mitch Andrew was sensational for the Panthers with 7-36.
In reply, Pearcedale's bats didn't fare much better, despite picking up first-innings points. The Panthers will resume day two on 7-69, Shayne Gillings still at the crease on 25. Teenager Mitch White was the best of the Tigers bowlers with 3-14.
Red Hill's batting slump continued on Saturday, rolled for 145 against Tootgarook. Nick Esipoff top scored for the Hillmen with 49 and Luke Doyle scored 26. In reply, Nick Wood has done some damage with the ball for the home side and the Tooters are 3-33.
Rosebud has already picked-up the win against Tyabb and will be looking for some batting practice this weekend.
Tyabb was knocked over for 80 with Scott Millar and Jason Nagel getting three wickets each. In reply, Greg McCann smashed 78 for the Buds to help his side to an overnight score of 4-122.
