MPCA: Pines gets cracking

24 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
PINES bounced back into a bit of form on Saturday, smacking 9-240 against Dromana in MPCA Sub-district Shield.

Despite being off the boil in recent times, the Piners, led by coach Ricky Ramsdale with 107, have given themselves a strong chance of victory.

Travis Pastuska contributed 27 to the Pines' total. Dromana's Dave Timmer was clearly the pick of the bowlers with 5-36.

Top-of-the-table Red Hill made 230 against home side Tootgarook. Skipper Glenn Collett continued his purple patch, smacking 99 before running out of partners.

A resurgent Rosebud, currently a game outside the top four, has already won its game against Tyabb. Scott Millar picked-up 5-30 and Jason Nagel 2-31 as the Buds rolled the Yabbies for 112.

In reply, the visitors are 4-120, Greg McCann top scoring with 34 and Scott Clark unbeaten on 30. The Buds will be aiming for an outright win.

Pearcedale is on the verge of cementing its place in the four against Seaford Tigers. Despite scoring just 137, Pearcedale has the Tigers on the ropes at 5-29. Kaine Smith was the best of the Panthers' bats with an unbeaten 44.

Carrum Downs has set Skye 183 for victory after scoring 8-182 on Saturday. Batting at 10, Chamara Perera was the best of the Cougars' bats with 58, his second half century this season.
