THE shape of the MPCA Sub-District ladder will not be known until the end of the final round after sides failed to grab their opportunity on Saturday.
Skye, Flinders and Baden Powell are all safe in the top bracket, but Tyabb, Seaford Tigers and Rosebud will fight it out for the final spot this weekend.
The Tigers played Skye on the weekend and were never any chance of getting the 335 needed for victory.
David James scored 53 and Glen Corrigan 41 but the Tigers could only muster 215. Jamie Smith snared 4-84 for Skye and Dean Jones helped himself to 3-26.
Tyabb had an opportunity to stand up and be noticed on Saturday, but was smashed by Flinders.
Defending 7-270, Flinders rolled the Yabbies for 142. Luke Rus top-scored with 58 and Jason Ferns was next best with 28.
Baden Powell did it easily against Tootgarook.
The Tooters made 170 the previous weekend and the Braves got the runs with just five wickets down.
Rhys Elmi top-scored for the Braves with 85 and Ben Davenport played a solid supporting role with 36.
Rosebud stayed in the finals hunt after beating Pearcedale.
The Buds made tough work of it, though. Resuming on 1-75 and chasing 191, they finished on 7-208, Danny Spencer top-scoring with 62 and Daniel Poulter making 37. Aidan Bock was the best of the Pearcedale bowlers with 3-46.
Carrum Downs successfully defended its 157 against Dromana, dismissing the Hoppers for 142. Chamara Perera was the best of the bowlers with 7-45, while Martin Burns claimed 2-24.
Scott Didcock was the only Dromana batsman to offer any sort of resistance with 60.
