HASTINGS moved into the top four in MPCA District cricket on Saturday after a convincing win over Red Hill.
The Blues slotted into finals contention also thanks to Carrum, which went down to Langwarrin.
In other District matches over the weekend, Balnarring kept its finals hopes alive with a win over Boneo, Seaford did likewise by beating Main Ridge, Dela-
combe Park cemented its spot by beating Mt Eliza and Rye hung on to beat Pines.
If Delacombe Park can win this weekend in the final home and away game of the season, it will go into the finals with enormous confidence after beating Mt Eliza.
After setting the Mounties 278 to win, the Parkers bowled out the visitors for just 131, Evan Campbell snaring 4-48 and Shane Deal 3-30. Lyle House was top scorer for the Mounties with 40.
Carrum couldn't defend its 198 against Langwarrin. The Kangas eased past the total with four wickets down, Simon McEvoy getting 40, Nathan Volpe 41, Ben Wells 77 and Jake Prosser an unbeaten 64.
Balnarring stayed in the finals hunt by beating Boneo, which was set 273 for victory the previous week and resumed on 3-49 before being dismissed for 184. Cameron Williams top-scored with an unbeaten 51 and Daniel Tyler made 38.
Jim Boyd scored an unbeaten 105 against Main Ridge to help his side stay in the finals hunt. Seaford finished on 5-210, passing Main Ridges' 205, before sending them back in to bat. The Ridge were 9-130 in their second dig.
Hastings smashed Red Hill. The Blues set a total of 277 for victory last weekend but the Hillmen managed just 129.
Sajith Kodituwakku was the star for the Blues with 5-47 and Juvaunie Gayle snared 2-10.
Pines was unable to get the job done against Rye.
After performing well with the ball and dismissing the Demons for 210, the Piners bats could not capitalise and were all out for just 179.
Travis Sawers was superb for the winners with 6-50, while Travis Pastuska top-scored for Pines with an unbeaten 65.
