Youth to have their say at forum

31 Aug, 2010 12:00 AM
PEOPLE aged 12-25 from around Victoria will gather in Frankston on September 9 for a youth forum.

Under the theme 'Identity and Place', a range of topics, selected by members of the Frankston Youth Council, will be discussed, including feeling safe in your neighbourhood, bullying (workplace, school, cyber), having a place to call home, and being accepted and accepting others.

Youth Affairs Minister James Merlino said the state government held two statewide youth forums each year for young people to share their opinions and give advice to decision-makers, including local and state government.

"I encourage young people to attend the forum and share their advice and solutions on issues about identity and place - it's a chance to have a say about the future of their community."

■The forum is at Cube 37, Frankston Arts Centre, Davey Street, from 9.30am-3.30pm. Bookings essential. Registration forms and more details are at www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/state wideyouthforum or call Frankston Youth Resource Centre on 97681366.
