Patterson ramp to stay manned

31 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
THE state government has decided to continue manning the Patterson River launching ramp.

The announcement was made by Carrum MP Donna Bauer and Environment and Climate Change Minister Ryan Smith last Wednesday.

Ms Bauer said the decision had been reached after consultation with the community, who had seen the ramp staffed for more than 25 years.

"Patterson River is a thriving canal system of the Patterson Lakes residential area and it is a great result," she said.

Mr Smith agreed, saying management plans regarding boating safety and congestion issues were being developed by Parks Victoria.

"At a community forum in October last year, it was clear that a manned facility was important here at Patterson River," he said.

The launching facility at Patterson River includes four public boat ramps, picnic facilities and parking for cars and trailers.
