PARKS Victoria has released a master plan for the potential development of Frankston Reservoir.
The plan includes walking trails, access to water views, picnic facilities and education resources. The draft states that dogs, fishing and cycling will not be allowed at the 90.51-hectare reserve.
The draft plan was developed by Frankston MP Geoff Shaw, representatives of Friends of Frankston Reservoir, Frankston Environmental Friends Network, the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria.
After operating as a drinking water storage centre from 1920, the reservoir was decommissioned in 2004 and the land declared a conservation reserve in 2008 due to abundant native flora and fauna and Aboriginal and European cultural heritage. The site is managed by Parks Victoria.
The plan is on show at Frankston library in Playne Street and online at, http://
parkweb.vic.gov.au/e xplore/parks/frankston-n.f.r. An information session will be held at the Frankston South Recreation Centre from 5-8pm on Thursday. Feedback on the plan will be accepted until October 7.
