Frankston Council's Meals on Wheels kitchen has a new $40,000 commercial oven, which allows volunteers to double the number of meals they can prepare in a day to 600.
The money was provided by the state government. Frankston MP Geoff Shaw said the state-of-the-art oven could perform work which previously required three ovens and would assist in managing occupational health and safety issues in the kitchen.
"Movement in the kitchen is now minimised, as is lifting, and the oven even cleans itself," he said.
Health Minister David Davis said the oven would help the service deal with increasing demand for meals.
