WEST Australian stayer Guyno is taking the $300,000 Mornington Cup (2400 metres) home.
Lou Luciani-trained Guyno stormed home yesterday to narrowly beat Mornington-based favourite Cedarberg by a nose with Shewan and Macedonian further back.
Guyno, who finished seventh in the Perth Cup seven weeks ago, receives automatic entry into the Caulfield Cup but Luciani was non-committal on whether his horse would race.
“We’ll wait until the spring,” he said.
Instead he heaped praise on his jockey Jason Whiting and his veteran horse.
“He is just a wonderful horse. He never lets us down.”
