Frankston cops nab man at airport

31 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM

A man who attempted to board a flight at Melbourne Airport after allegedly committing burglaries and firearm offences in the Carrum Downs area earlier this month has been arrested by Frankston police.

Detective Senior Constable Chris Sweet said the 20 year old from the western suburbs was also allegedly responsible for a number of other burglaries around Melbourne and the inner suburbs.

"He was arrested yesterday at Melbourne Airport as he was about to fly out," Detective Senior Constable Sweet told the Weekly last Wednesday.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court in April.

Fantastic. I have often thought that many criminals enter Australia for the sole purpose to commit crime, then do a 'runner' while they wait a trial date.
