A $60,000 funding boost will make the Frankston City Bowls Club more accessible and allow it to hold bigger competitions.
Sport and Recreation Minister Hugh Delahunty visited the club last Tuesday to announce the government would chip in $30,000 under its community facility funding program.
In matching funding, Frankston Council contributed $25,000 and the club provided $5000.
Frankston MP Geoff Shaw said: "Lawn bowls has always been a part of our community here in Frankston, so much so that Frankston hosted the world bowls championship in 1980.
"Frankston City Bowls Club is a great local sporting and social hub and this funding will assist in making bowls more accessible to the people of Frankston, and that's fantastic."
Mr Delahunty said the funding would be used to provide more accessible facilities, including ramps with pathways for better access to bowling greens and a toilet for the disabled.
The club would be able to host bigger competitions and offer more development programs and increase its membership base.
"These improvements will inject a new sense of community pride, bring more people together, boost community sport and recreation and ensure everyone can enjoy better access to the bowls greens whatever their age or ability," Mr Delahunty said.
