CFA's grass fire warning

31 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
The CFA's southern metropolitan region operations manager Trevor Owen says the wet weather in recent months means there is a higher risk of grass fires during the declared fire danger period which started on January 23.

He asked people to be vigilant about ensuring that properties were protected by creating firebreaks and slashing, mowing, grazing and spraying dry grass.

Visit cfa.vic.gov.au or call the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 2406 67 for more information about preparing for the bushfire season.
