 Bong ban begins

Bong ban begins

24 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
THE sale, display and supply of bongs in Victoria became illegal on January 1.

Stores that ignore the legislation could face fines of $7328 for an individual and up to $36,642 for a company.

Frankston MP Geoff Shaw said families in Frankston were "sick and tired" of the soft approach to cannabis.

"Bongs are used for the sole purpose of smoking marijuana, which is an illegal drug that can have harmful consequences when consumed.''

''More than 6 per cent of bong sales in Victoria were from retail outlets in Frankston and the number of ambulance call-outs for cannabis-related incidents was the second highest in the municipality."

So Frankston MP Geoff Shaw, are you now going to ban all juice bottles and stop the sale of garden hoses? Those who wish to smoke drugs will find other means to make a bong. Mr Shaw should get on with what we pay him for — like upgrading Frankston Hospital's emergency section and providing more beds.

This has taken way too long for legislation to ban - Let's get real and understand that bong bottles are used only for one reason and is part of the drug culture and associated paraohernalia - even the bong bottle images in the photo would suggest to a ignorant person that drugs are a fun thing.
