FRANKSTON Council's chief executive officer George Modrich has been given a $20,000 a year pay rise.
His new $280,000 salary package is slightly above the average paid to CEOs in other regional and large metro city municipalities such as Ballarat, Bendigo, Glen Eira and Banyule.
Councillors approved Mr Modrich's pay rise earlier this month after a review by consultant Philip Shanahan, of Jo Fisher Executive Pty Ltd.
The annual review was to assess whether Mr Modrich had met the requirements of his contract.
Mr Shanahan, a former local government CEO, examined Mr Modrich's people management skills, business performance, stakeholder management, strategic leadership and delivery of the council plan as part of the review.
Mayor Colin Hampton said: "Mr Shanahan's review made it clear that while we are the second-biggest municipality in our group, our CEO received the second-lowest salary package.
"As councillors we could not be more pleased with the CEO's performance to date, and the review reinforced this belief.
"This increase brings our council into line with other cities of similar size, which is very important to help ensure our city can keep talented people like George Modrich in Frankston."
Neighbouring Mornington Peninsula Shire CEO Michael Kennedy is on a package of just under $300,000, including cost of car and superannuation.
