Accountant wins Liberal preselection battle

02 Mar, 2010 12:42 PM

ACCOUNTANT Geoff Shaw has won the preselection battle held to determine who will represent the Liberal Party in the seat of Frankston in November's state election.

Mr Shaw (32 votes) defeated industrialist Peter Angelico (12), former Cranbourne MP Gary Rowe (6) and driving school instructor Jerome Breen (4) in a ballot of local branch members and state council representatives on Sunday morning.

In accordance with party rules, 60per cent of the vote comprised local branch members and 40per cent from delegates appointed by the Liberal state council.

Former Frankston mayor Rochelle McArthur withdrew from the race last year for personal reasons.

Mr Shaw will take on Labor incumbent Alistair Harkness who holds the seat by a margin of 3.2 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

Mr Shaw is married with four children and runs Geoff Shaw & Partners accountancy firm located in the Frankston CBD.

I'd like to see someone ask him about several things: 1. Do you believe in climate change? 2. What will you do about it? 3.Do you recycle? 4.What are your thoughts on homosexuality? 5. Did you get your photo taken with a former Labor Prime Minister? 6. Were you ever a Labor party member?
